OCR: THE THING HOW DID IT GET HERE ? From Another World HOWARD HAWKS' Astounding MOVIE Winchester Pictures - 1951 Starring: Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan, Robert Cornthwaite, James Arness According to Michael Crichton, this is 'the best science fiction film ever made.' A flying saucer crashes in Antarctica where soldiers at the frozen outpost investigate and find a creature embedded in the ice. Accidentally thawed, from another world his sole purpose is to survive - at all costs. Influenced by "The Cat and the Canary," where a group of people are stalked by an alien presence, this was one of the most frightening films of the fifties. The huge alien (Arness) was largely unseen by the audience which made him all the more terrifying. Uvres by CHRISTIAN MYBY
